MATTHEW WEIL

When he is not serving as a Director for the Weil Family Foundation, Matthew works for Christopher Weil & Company, Inc. He joined the firm in January 2009 after nearly two decades litigating intellectual property matters, principally patents. He is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and advises on how to achieve and maintain sustainable economic independence. He is also CWC Asset Advisor, Inc.'s General Counsel.

Before joining WEIL, Matt was a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP. He was a past President of the Orange County Patent Law Association and a current Board Chair of The Preuss School UC San Diego. He serves on the boards of Photometics, Inc. and Fresca Medical Inc., two for-profit companies and was formerly on the board of Vessix Vascular, Inc. and Niveus Medical, Inc.

Matthew has a BA in History and Russian Language from the University of California, Davis, a Masters in Political Science from Columbia University, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. He is fluent in Russian and lives with his wife in Carmel Valley. They have a college-aged daughter.
