Matthew joined Christopher Weil and Company, Inc. (CWC) as a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and General Counsel in 2009. Before joining CWC, he was a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP where he spent nearly two decades litigating intellectual property matters, principally patents. He is a past President of the Orange County Patent Law Association, sat on the board of the National Conflict Resolution Center and was part of the Advisory Council for the San Diego Youth Symphony. He has served on the board of Vessix Vascular, Inc. and Photometics, Inc., two for-profit companies. He currently acts as a Director for The Patricia & Christopher Weil Family Foundation and is a Board Member for the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, the San Diego Repertory Theatre Board and the Preuss School UC San Diego.
Matt has a BA in History and Russian Language from the University of California, Davis, a Masters in Political Science from Columbia University, and a J.D. from University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. He is fluent in Russian and lives in Carmel Valley with his wife and their high-school-aged daughter.
