Pat was born and raised in Los Angeles. She and her husband, Chris, moved to the San Diego area in 1996. She is a graduate of UCLA, taught for many years in the Los Angeles public school system, and has worked for McGraw Hill as a reading consultant.

Pat has also worked as a member of the volunteer staffs for a number of nonprofit organizations, including Beyond War (1980 to 1990). She was both member (1998) and chair (1999) of the UCSD faculty awards selection committee, a member of UCSD Chancellors Association (Silver Circle), a mentor in The Preuss School UCSD mentoring program and a member of the Mainly Mozart Advisory Board, where she advocated for Mainly Mozart’s educational programs for under-resourced San Diego public school children.

As the first member of her family to attend college, Pat understands the extraordinary difference education makes in a person's life and as such, has a particular passion for first generation college bound children.

For nearly twenty years, together with The Patricia and Christopher Weil Family Foundation, she has provided scholarships to more than 340 children from The Preuss School UCSD, Gompers Preparatory Academy, Borrego Springs High School and the Barrio Logan College Institute.

Pat and her husband Chris have been married more than sixty years, have three children and five grandchildren. They live in Del Mar.
